As coronavirus spreads throughout the country, a total number of 28 COVID-19 cases have been detected in India so far. In the midst of the outbreak, there’s still no sight of proper medication and vaccination that can improve the situation. Going by the popular belief, ‘prevention is the best cure’, one must do their best to prevent themselves. According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, washing your hands can alone be one of the best ways to prevent the coronavirus.

However, you might be surprised to know that out of every 10 people only 3 to 4 people on average washes their hands correctly. You probably might think that you are washing your hands correctly every time you do it-hopefully-multiple times in a day, chances are you also might be doing it wrong. Not rocket science, but by following some basic steps down below, you can reduce the risk of catching coronavirus for yourself and others.

Wet your hands with clean water. There’s no compulsion for the temperature of the water, however mild hot to lukewarm water can help to kill bacteria on your hands.

Rub both of your hands together to create a lather. Don’t forget to lather around your fingers and back of your hand. One must also keep their nails clean as germs and bacteria tend to hide in the crevices of the nails.

You must wash your hands for at least 20 seconds. It is being recommended that people can try singing songs, such as a happy birthday song for two times to make sure you are taking an adequate amount of time for washing your hands.

Rinse your hands after you are done foaming with clean water.

One must dry their hands on a clean towel. A towel must not be used more than three times to dry your hands before getting tossed in the washing machine.
