Oh, the lovely and comforting season of rain is here. The season that we all were waiting for after all that scorching heat that we were blessed with. The climate is cooler and it's pouring since a couple of days. All of which looks beautiful outside the window. But, we must also consider that it will sooner or later start showing up on our skin. Yes, monsoon has as much effect on our skin as it has on the environment. And you must indulge in skincare even during the pouring months like you do for any other season. Here are a few things you must keep in mind about skin issues and how you can protect your skin during monsoon season, according to a dermatologist.

Skin issues during monsoon:

- Allergic reaction: Insect bite or Urticaria reactions could be very much possible during monsoon. These bites can start to affect your skin causing red bumps and very severe Urticaria-Angioedema.

- Acne breakouts: Since the humidity will increase in this atmosphere, the skin will start to dry out. This will trigger the oil glands which could clog pores. And people who have oily skin must consult their dermatologist to ask them about the type of cleanser, sunscreen, moisturizer and anti-pimple medication they can take to keep acne away.

- Eczema: Another common condition that occurs during monsoon is eczema. The skin starts to get itchy, red, rough and inflamed. This causes thickening of the skin and rough skin. Humidity has a big role to play when it comes to drying of the skin which aggravates the condition.

This is how you prevent these skin issues:

- Keep yourself dry as much as possible. This will make you less prone to skin infections.
- Maintain personal hygiene and wash your feet and hands at regular intervals. Take a shower twice a day if it's possible.
- Wear a sunscreen even when it isn't sunny anymore. This will protect your skin even in the monsoon season.
- Use a good face cleanser which is right for your skin type.
- Make sure you take good care of your feet too. Use good quality footwear for this season and give yourself regular pedicures.
- Consult a dermatologist if and when required for any kind of skin issues.
