It's quite normal to wake up during the night. You all might know that we move through different stages of sleep through the night, which is a cycle that takes an average of 90 minutes to complete and then it speeds up towards morning.

Normally, people return to sleep without realising that they have even been awake for that while. But sometimes, we might even be more aware of it or entirely awake as well. The reason for it could range from being too hot or cold or having to go to the loo or having a nightmare to any of the medical ones like sleep apnoea or nocturia which is an excessive night-time urination disorder.

It's a misconception that you sleep through the night. When in reality, you wake up at least five to seven times in the night which is actually not a cause of concern. What is more important is how you feel once you wake up in the morning. Do you feel refreshed or groggy for 30 minutes after waking up?

It could be due to the lifestyle changes which can make a big difference. Caffeine could also be one of the reasons for poor sleep during nights. And if you wish for it to not have a strong effect on you, you need to stop the consumption of it by 2pm to 3pm. Your water intake during the day can also be a factor for interrupted sleep. Once you figure out the cause of your sleep issue, you can do everything to fix it so that you can get a good night's sleep.
