In today's world, the onset of so many junk food outlets and the lifestyle people have chosen has led to some major health issues like obesity. While being overweight can be a huge issue in itself, it can also lead to multiple other health problems like diabetes and increased risks of developing cancer. Most obese people also end up with heart diseases, liver diseases and multiple other health problems.

A recent study has found that being overweight before the age of 40 can become a major tipping point in developing cancer. "Obesity is an established risk factor for several cancers. In this study, we have focused on the degree, timing and duration of overweight and obesity in relation to cancer risk," said study author Tone Bjorge. As per their research, nearly 27,881 individuals were diagnosed with cancer out of which nearly 35% were due to obesity. "The risk increased by 64 percent for male participants and 48 percent for females," Bjorge added.

Here are some tips that will help you fight obesity:

Keep checking your weight: This is the most basic thing you can do to make sure you don't end up being obese. If you keep a tab on your BMI, you can keep changing your food habits accordingly so that the condition doesn't spiral out of control and you have time to make things right.

Make the right food decisions: Avoid eating junk foods and also make sure not to consume fats that would be unhealthy. Eat good fats and lots of proteins to help keep your body in tip-top condition. You need to have a properly balanced meal if you want to stay fit.

Follow a healthy lifestyle: If you have a habit of munching on junk food when you're at work or if you just can't watch a TV show without grabbing some popcorn, you need to come up with better lifestyle plans. Replace unhealthy foods with healthy foods and limit the portions that you consume.

Diet and exercise: The most important factor in losing weight is to follow the right diet and team it with some exercise. Try to limit your intake of calories and consume foods that are healthy and rich in proteins, nutrients and vitamins. Incorporate exercise in your daily routine by going to the gym or opting for something that you'd prefer like doing cardio, going for a run or swimming etc.

Say no to sugar: Consuming too much sugar is the number one cause of multiple health diseases. So try to eliminate as much of it as possible from your diet. This means opting for honey or jaggery in your drinks instead of adding sugar, going for less sweet desserts and even saying no to packaged drinks (contain a ton of sugar).

Well, we certainly hope these tips will help you. Stay tuned for more updates.
