Diwali is amongst the biggest festivals in India and is celebrated with a number of festivities. It is seen as the triumph of light over darkness and people celebrate the festival not just by giving gifts and distributing sweets but also by bursting crackers. But what may seem like fun to us can actually be really harmful to our pets (especially dogs). Due to the noise pollution, they end up getting scared and feel vulnerable. Here are a few tips to help them out.

First and foremost, stay calm yourself. Animals can sense stress so if they realise that you are stressed, they will get worried and will start panicking. Make sure that your dog is tired. Take him for a walk or an activity that will help make him tired so that when he comes home he dozes off to sleep. Teach your dog about the safe spot. Take him to his favourite corner and put out his favourite blanket for him so that he can snuggle with it.

Consulting a vet can also help as he can prescribe anti-anxiety meds for your pet. Keep your pet away from Diwali sweets as they can be really harmful to them. And lastly, make sure to keep things like wires, bulbs, fireworks etc out of your pet's reach to ensure their safety. Well, we hope these tips help you and your pet have a safe and happy Diwali.
