A couple from Surat decided to forgo the unnecessary extravagance, and got married within a mere budget of Rs 500!
The country currently stands divided on the issue of demonetisation. While there are quite a few who support the cause, many voices can also be heard against the drive. While our ex-PM, Manmohan Singh, slammed the move and called it a 'legalised loot', there are citizens, who seem to be embracing and the adapting to the drive.

As publicised, it is also the people getting married, who are feeling the pinch of the cash crunch a little harder. So much so, that a wedding in Delhi got cancelled after the bride's family was not able to meet the dowry demands posed by the groom's side. (Honestly, though, I fail to understand that how is it a downside!)

However, a couple from Surat decided to forgo the unnecessary extravagance, and got married within a mere budget of Rs 500! When reached out for a comment the couple said, "since our wedding date was already fixed; decided to give up on grand marriage; instead had a ‘chai, paani wala’ wedding.” The bride admitted that while things got a little tense everything worked out very well. She said, "“Later after considering the situation, we decided to get married without much grandeur by offering just tea and water to guests.”

Kudos to both the couple and their family for realising that wedding does not have to be a display of opulence and extravagance. Wishing the newly-married couple a very happy and prosperous married life!
