Uttar Pradesh: Four employees of Chaudhary Charan Singh University arrested for Vyapam scam

Four employees from Meerut’s Chaudhary Charan Singh University in connection with a cheating racket which is dubbed as state's own Vyapam scam have been arrested from Uttar Pradesh. Vyapam scam was the educational scam which rocked Madhya Pradesh couple of years back. It was active since 2014; the racket in Uttar Pradesh has helped over 600 non-meritorious students pass the MBBS examination and become doctors in the state. The arrests were made by the Special Task Force (STF).


The Times of India reported, two students were arrested by the police of Muzaffarnagar Medical College for paying Rs 1 lakh each to the cheating mafia that submitted answers written by experts in place of those by the students themselves.”


The Special Task Force said, “The police officials have identified six officials of the University as being part of a gang that facilitated large-scale cheating. Police said more names of students will surface after further interrogation. "The two arrested students were introduced to members of the cheating mafia by a second-year woman medical student who is already under the scanner but is yet to be arrested. One of the two arrested students is identified as a son of a doctor practicing at Gurugram's top multi-specialty hospitals.”


According to a report, “The students' exam copies were being replaced with those meticulously solved by experts by the university’s answer sheet evaluation department, for which students had to pay 1-1.5 lakh. The task force has also written to the state government requesting a special investigating team (SIT) be set up.”
