Donald Trump Jr., American President, Donald Trump's son and his wife Vanessa, have filed for divorce, as confirmed by multiple reports. In a statement issued over both of their names, the couple, who were married in 2005 and are both 40 years old, said that "we have decided to go our separate ways." "We have five beautiful children together and they remain our top priority," they said. "We ask for your privacy during this time," they added.

Details of the divorce complaint aren't immediately available however, it is said that Vanessa Trump had filed a notice in the State Supreme Court in Manhattan — New York's equivalent of trial court, not its highest court — seeking an uncontested divorce. Sources confirmed to a leading news portal that the two were struggling with marital problems and were likely to end their union. Apparently, Vanessa was hospitalised last month when a letter to her husband found to contain a suspicious white powder. The powder was determined to be non-hazardous.

Shortly after his wife’s hospitalisation, Trump Jr. left for India on a Trump Organization trip. Although the businessman has not taken an explicit role in his father’s White House, Trump Jr. has made a number of appearances on behalf of the first family. He met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a closed-door meeting In February too. The couple’s marital issues seem to have been exacerbated by the powder incident and Trump Jr.’s travels, apparently left Vanessa “increasingly lonely,” based on reports from a leading news portal.

Vanessa Trump and Donald Trump Jr. have five children. An 'uncontested' filing means the pair anticipate an amicable separation, without a legal battle over child custody or assets.
