Ways in which menopause can affect your sex drive

Just as hormonal changes accompany the onset of menstruation in a woman, the same happens when a woman goes through menopause. Your body begins to change (yet again), hormones change (mostly lack of estrogen production and testosterone) and you also tend to see a bunch of psychological changes accompany the physical changes. But one major change that most women observe is the loss of their sex drive.

Most menopausal women notice that they aren't as easily aroused with things like touch and stroking as they did before menopause set in. Most of these women experience some common symptoms like decrease in libido, vaginal dryness, sleep issues and disrupted mood. These things can make sex less enjoyable for women and hence it can affect their sex drive. As per experts, there are certain changes women can make to try to enjoy sex more often. These include-

Medical treatments: You can opt for creams and lotions that can be applied topically to the vagina or vaginal rings and could help provide estrogen therapy. However, these therapies may or may not help improve your sexual drive. It depends entirely on your system.

Make lifestyle changes: People tend to not pay enough attention to all the benefits one can get from making certain lifestyle changes like improving their diet and getting some exercise. You could also try and use water-based lubricants to help improve your experience.

Change sexual habits: Try different routines and certain toys that might help spice things up in the bedroom. Opt for stress-relieving hobbies and habits together like going for a walk, cooking, reading, dates and basically anything that could add intimacy.

If nothing seems to be working out for you, you could always go see a doctor to help figure out what you can do. Stay tuned for more updates.
