Ways in which you can freeze and preserve dairy products

Dairy is a very integral part of our daily diet as it keeps us fit and fine. Hence, a lot of us are investing in too many dairy products during this lockdown time so that they don't run out of these things which help us cook innumerable things. Although, not all of us know how to store and preserve dairy products all that well.

Hence, we're here to give you little tips on how to freeze and preserve dairy products at home.

Milk: Fresh milk can be frozen, yes. You need to make sure that there's enough space in your airtight container as milk tends to expand when it freezes. Buying 1 litre plastic bags as it's a great space saver to freeze the milk. You can also freeze fresh milk in ice cube trays and then make some iced coffee and iced tea out of it.

Butter: Butter has a natural long life when kept in the fridge. You can stock up some a few extra kinds of butter and slip them into the spaces in your freezer. Frozen butter can then be grated when you require them in small quantities.

Fresh cream: You can apply the same method to fresh cream as fresh milk. Freeze fresh cream on the day of purchase so that you can use it well for the upcoming days. You can make too many food dishes out of fresh cream if you store it well. Put the fresh cream pack directly in the freezer so that it can save up space.

Cheese: You can also freeze some cheese. If you wish to use grated hard cheese, it would be better if you store them in small amounts and in separate freezer bags for three months. Some of the cheese varieties might crumble a bit once they defrost but they are safe to eat and use in sauces, baked goods and sandwiches.

Yoghurt: You don't have to buy frozen yoghurt but can freeze the normal yoghurt instead. You can push a teaspoon through the foil lid of the yoghurt container and place it in the freezer till it completely freezes. You can then serve it as iced lolly.
