In the digital age, the quest for the love of your life is just a right swipe away. Romance has become convenient and getting into a relationship almost always happens in a jiffy. But somehow it’s impossible for you to operate that way. While everyone is rushing to jump into a new relationship, you feel like you don’t fit in.

Demisexuality falls under the spectrum of asexuality. In simpler terms, a demisexual is a person who does not experience sexual attraction unless they form a strong emotional connection with someone.

If that sounds like you, you may be one of the many people who identify as a demisexual. If you’re still unsure if that may be you, below are a few signs that will help you figure it out.

The idea of sex doesn’t necessarily turn you on

While sexual urges may be one of the primary needs for rest of us, it comes to you much later. Hence, you’re rarely turned on by the idea of sex.

People often label you as a”prude.”

“Prude,” “goody two shoes” – you’ve heard it all. While some people may abstain from sex due to religious reasons, a demisexual avoids them plainly due to a lack of interest. Regardless, people often label you for not matching their standards for “normal.”

Your crushes are a huge deal

As a demisexual, you are rarely attracted to a person. An emotional bond takes a long time to form for you. So naturally, when you have crushes, they are a big deal.

You still feel a primary sexual attraction – but it’s fleeting

A demisexual is not completely devoid of a primary sexual feeling. This sexual feeling although present, is fleeting but just not strong enough to be acted upon.

You have had awkward friendships

Particularly when you’re friends with a gender you’re attracted to. Since your relationships are born out of good friendships, you may have had a case of unrequited love and the followed awkwardness.
