Whatsapp had arrived into our lives like Shah Rukh Khan had made his appearance in front of Jaya Bachchan in 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'. Ever since Whatsapp was launched it completely took over the SMS trend. And since then it has only made people's lives easier; which is why it sent everyone into a frenzy when Whatsapp stopped working for a while.

According to reports, the app was hit by a major outage, stopping millions of people from using it around the world. People couldn't send or receive messages using the Facebook-owned app, apparently because of a server problem. Service appears now to be gradually being restored. The app didn't initially look broken, with chats and contacts able to load. But once a user was into a chat, the app just showed a "connecting" message that never resolved itself, and so new messages couldn't be sent or received.

Twitterati obviously went berserk over this issue and soon the hashtag #whatsappdown began to trend on the social media portal. Here's what a few people tweeted:

Even filmmaker Shirish Kunder tweeted about it:

Well, we certainly are glad that the app is up and running again. Stay tuned for more updates.
