Let's face it. One of the toughest resolutions and promises to keep has to do with exercising regularly to lose some weight. However, a recent study conducted might have some really good news regarding just that. People who make an effort to lose weight are not only benefiting themselves but also people around them! How's that, you ask? Well, researchers have found that when one person of a couple commits to losing some weight, the chances are high that their partner will lose some weight too. Even when they might now be participating actively in the physical exercise itself!

As part of a study, the researchers tracked the weight loss progress of 130 couples over six months. In the study, about one-third of the untreated partners lost three percent or more of their initial body weight after six months despite not participating in any active intervention. Now that's good news, right? "When one person changes their behaviour, the people around them change," said Amy Gorin, from the University of Connecticut in the US. The study also stated that the rate at which couples lose weight is interlinked. "How we change our eating and exercise habits can affect others in both positive and negative ways," said Gorin.

Well, all you lazy ones out there...prod your partners along to get losing some weight. Who knows...maybe you will soon too!
