Why being pear-shaped can be good for your health

Are you pear-shaped? A new study claims that it is extremely beneficial for your health. Researchers reveal that a good indication of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk depends on where the fat is around on your body. According to the study, the location you carry weight is more important than the amount you weigh.

For the study, researchers followed over 2,500 postmenopausal women for almost 20 years. Through their investigation, the team found those women with the highest percentages of waist fat and lowest percentages of leg fat were at a significantly high risk of developing heart disease.

It can be hard to lose weight around the midsection for most of us, even if you follow a strict diet and exercise regularly. However, belly fat can also be harmful to our health. The study's findings suggest a pear shape frame, which is when you carry weight in your thighs and hips, is much healthier than accumulating a large part of your weight in the belly area.

The team also found those with the most leg fat mass were 32 per cent less likely to be diagnosed with heart disease. The study highlights the fact that losing weight is more complicated than we realise. The study's findings were originally published in the European Heart Journal.

Tackling belly fat should be the first order of business to maintain good health. "Some of my favourites for rebalancing cortisol and easing HPA-axis dysfunction are licorice root, ashwagandha, schisandra, and cordyceps. Find these in powdered form, and add to your teas, smoothies, or coffee," According to Will Cole, D.C., IFMCP, a functional medicine expert, told a news portal.

Some health experts say HIIT workouts an effective type of cardio that can target belly fat. "The whole workout, including warmup, doesn't need to be more than 45 minutes to be effective," fitness instructor John Kersbergen, told a news portal.

Previous research has found a heart-healthy diet can significantly reduce belly fat. Mindful mealtimes, soluble fibre, stress reduction, and avoiding sugary drinks can help also help reduce belly fat.
