Taking a shower in the morning to freshen yourself up and before bed to clean yourself from all the dirt and pollution seems like a good idea. But how many of you have thought that while you're at it, you might be actually harming your body in ways more than one? Taking a bath doesn't make us think of any harmful effects on our skin. But when it comes to taking a shower, there are ways in which you might be affecting your skin.

- You're probably using the hot water for too long. Of course, hot water shower makes you feel better than cold water one. But in this process, you tend to take that steam on your body for way too long than it's needed. This will strip off the skin of all the essential grease. It sure opens up the pores but if you take the hot water for too long on your skin, it can lead to redness and itching.

- You end up using too much soap on your skin. You must know that soap is acidic in nature and it will very much help you in removing the dirt from your skin. But while doing so, it can also strip off the natural oils which can result in tiny cracks in your skin. Using too much soap can also end up drying your skin and making it flaky. Also, some soaps might contain perfume to make your body smell like strawberries but in reality, these are the worst ones that you can use to actually clean your body.

- You condition your hair the wrong way. Whenever you condition your hair at the ends, the conditioner gets in direct contact with your skin on the back. This clogs your pores on your back and makes your back prone to acne.

- You don't always moisturize immediately after showers. Once you towel-dry yourself, you're meant to moisturize your skin immediately so as to cover your open pores after a hot shower, otherwise the dryness might make your skin prone to itching. Moisturizing your body when it's still damn will avoid any dry cracks on your body.

- Last but not the least, always and always clean the shower head. Don't let plaque cover the shower head from all the water leaking. It can actually turn dangerous for your skin since it contains bad bacteria and fungus that ends up affecting your skin.
