While there were speculations in regards to the leading lady of Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan starrer 'Thugs Of Hindostan', the production house was soon to announce that 'Dangal' fame Fatima Sana Shaikh and Katrina Kaif will join the stellar cast of the film.

In an official announcement made by Yash Raj Films, the press release stated, "Yash Raj Films’ star-studded mega project Thugs of Hindostan has its final ‘thug’ onboard. Katrina Kaif joins the other 'thugs' Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Fatima Sana Shaikh in this larger than life, grand cinematic experience. A much-awaited film, Kaif’s addition to this film’s star cast only adds to the massive anticipation that it has already built."

Rumour mills were abuzz with the reports of Katrina playing a British girl in the film, however, the rumours were soon shunned when a tabloid reported that she will play an Indian classical character. And now, a daily's report suggests that changes have been made in the film's script for Katrina Kaif.

A source close to the daily stated, "She met Adi in Victor’s (as Vijay Krishna Acharya is fondly known) presence and good-naturedly complained that the two had not given her much to do the last time they signed her opposite Aamir Khan in Dhoom:3. Aditya Chopra assured her the role would be amended."

The report further suggested that after many actresses refused to sign on the film, Aditya had to personally request Katrina to come on board. The source further adds, "The heroine's role was sketchy, to begin with. It has now been fleshed out for Katrina's sake."
