Akshay Kumar, A.R Rahman and Rajnikanth attend '2.0' press launch event in Dubai

Akshay Kumar recently made the headlines when it was announced that he was cast in the film, '2.0' which also stars South superstar Rajnikanth and actress Amy Jackson in lead roles. The film that is being helmed by ace director Shankar is all set to hit the theatres on January 25, 2018.

On Thursday Akshay Kumar flew to Dubai to attend the press launch event for the film. Also present at the event was star Rajnikanth, award-winning music composer A.R Rahman, and director Shankar.

When a reporter asked Shankar what was so special about '2.0', he stated, "'2.0' premise is new, the message is new, the format is new and it doesn't look like Indian movies. It's more like Hollywood films. It's science socio fiction film."

When Akshay was asked about his role in the film, the actor said, "Yes I'm playing an anti-hero in the film. It's been an honour to get beaten up by Rajnikanth sir. This film was a very different experience for me. I have worked with Shankar sir and he is not a director, he's a scientist. It's unbelievable what he wants to portray through the film. Since I have a contract I can't talk much more about the film. Otherwise, I would love to tell you the entire story."
