Alia Bhatt: I am competitive because I have seen defeat

Alia Bhatt is clearly the most promising talent from the younger generation of Bollywood actors. With a streak of box office successes and critically acclaimed performances in movies like ‘Highway’, ‘2 States’, ‘Kapoor & Sons’ and now ‘Dear Zindagi’, Alia Bhatt’s success graph is enviable.

However, Alia recently revealed that it’s the fear of failure that drives her and makes her so competitive. Recalling a childhood incident that had a lasting impact on her, Alia said, “I have feared failure since I was in the fourth grade. I lost a race and that's the only race that I lost in school. I couldn't believe it and I kept blaming the race for feeling that way. I was so unhappy that I told myself that it was a stupid book balancing race, it wasn't even a real race, that's why I lost. It's not that I have not seen defeat, I have, which is why I am very competitive."

What an attitude! On the work front, Alia is currently shooting for ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ opposite Varun Dhawan, which hits the theatres on 10th March 2017.
