With Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti all set to work together in a film titled 'Namastey Canada', speculations were rife that the film is a sequel to Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer 'Namastey London'. There were also reports of Akshay being seemingly upset with Arjun has the actor himself wanted to be a part of the sequel. Reports of Akshay then refusing to let the team use the original title further fueled the speculations of a possible tiff between the two actors.

When a leading daily asked Arjun about the reports that surfaced, the actor was quick to quip, "I shot a video for his film 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' and it negates the speculation. Vipul sir and Akshay were to do a film together, but due to time constraints and scheduling problems (it did not happen). Vipul sir offered (the project to) me and I got excited about it."

Arjun further added, "Akshay sir and I get along well and I respect him for what he has achieved and the work he is doing now." Earlier, a source close to a leading daily had informed that Akshay and Arjun are on good terms. The source said, "When Arjun was approached, the first call he made was to Akshay to tell him that the film was offered to him. They spoke and obviously, Akshay had no issues with Arjun doing the film."

When questioned 'Namastey Canada' director Vipul Shah, the filmmaker said, "I want to set the record straight. 'Namastey Canada' is not a sequel to 'Namastey London'. I thank Akshay for standing by me and being graceful about sharing the title with me."

Talking about his association with Arjun and Parineeti Chopra, Vipul concluded, "I'm also happy that Arjun and Parineeti agreed to join me on this journey. I hope this film becomes one of their best outings together."
