Anthony Bourdain took viewers around the world with his popular television series, Parts Unknown throughout his career. The show launched in 2013 after he joined CNN in a move that many viewed as risky for both the network and Bourdain.

He was found dead in a hotel room in France's Strasbourg, where he had been working on an upcoming episode of his programme. Anthony Bourdain’s best-selling 2000 memoir, drawn from years of working in top restaurants in New York, created his persona as a dishy, dashing adventurer of the culinary universe.

Bourdain published 13 books and traveled up to 10 months of the year, exploring the world for his television show. His death was being treated as a suicide. Christian de Rocquigny du Fayel, the prosecutor for the city of Colmar, in the Alsace region near where Mr. Bourdain was found, said the death was by hanging. “At this stage, we have no reason to suspect foul play,” he said.
