While the film industry is known to fancy stories based on the lives of gangsters and don, reports suggested that superstar Rajinikanth too is all set to act in a biopic on late Haji Mastan Mirza. Haji Mastan is a well-known name in the Mumbai underworld, he was a Tamil Muslim who had migrated to the city.

After the reports started doing rounds, Sundar Shaekhar, an adopted son of the don sent a legal notice to the makers. In the notice, he asked the superstar and the director to not portray Haji Mastan as a 'smuggler and an underworld don'. (Also Read: Rajinikanth in legal trouble owing to the Haji Mastan biopic!)

He warned the makers against any such attempt and said that it would further lead to legal action. Confirming the same, Sundar said, "Depicting him (Haji Mastan) as a smuggler and underworld don is highly unacceptable and defamatory. He was never convicted in any court for smuggling or underworld activities."

The makers, in response to the notice, stated that "The film is not based on the life of Haji Mastan. It’s not even a biopic. It’s just a fictional story set in Mumbai." The film which is all set to roll next week will see the superstar play a don, who lived in Mumbai between 1926 and 1994.

The film is produced by Dhanush, and the makers are currently constructing Dharavi set in Chennai for Rajinikanth to begin shooting. A source from the sets, told IANS, "On a budget close to Rs 5 crore, Dharavi set is currently being constructed in Chennai and the predominant portion of the film will be shot there."
