Tamil actress Aishwarya Rajessh is all set to make her Bollywood debut opposite Arjun Rampal with the much awaited biopic ‘Daddy’, based on Arun Gawli’s life. However, she admits that it isn’t easy to become an actress and in her case, she said it was her dusky complexion that impeded her initially.

"When I participated in reality shows, people told me that I could never become an actress. They told me that I am dusky and do not have what it takes to be an actress. Down south, people are very obsessed with colour – fair skin. I did many small budget films after my TV stint and they all flopped. People were just not ready to accept me. It’s only when I did ‘Kaaka Muttai’ – I played the mother of two children – people started approving my work. It took me four years to finally get approved in films. Then people started giving importance to my work than my skin colour. In the south, your hero can be dark but actresses can’t be dark or dusky. They have to be fair-skinned."

'Daddy' will hit the theatres on 8th September.
