Ranveer Singh to play the lead in Kabir Khan's next directorial venture?!
Kabir Khan who is currently busy shooting for his next, Tubelight, has done films aplenty on the grey areas of life that dealt with terrorism and war. The man has a knack for stories that revolve around the war zone with an element of romance. Be it Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s brewing romance in Ek Tha Tiger or the special bond between Salman and Harshali Malhotra (Munni) in Bajrangi Bhaijaan – the celebrated director knows to portray emotions even in the worst situations.

And while his next, Tubelight, is yet again a historical war drama set against the backdrop of 1962 Sino-Indian war, one hears that Kabir will soon be directing Ranveer Singh in a film. According to a report of Bollywoodlife.com, Ranveer will be seen in the role of a cricketer in Kabir’s next directorial. The film will apparently be produced under the Phantom Productions banner and will be based on the 1983 cricket World Cup victory. It was the first time ever for India to have won the World Cup under the guidance of the then captain Kapil Dev. The film is about the struggles of the team, highlighting the plight of players back then.

The mills were abuzz with rumours of Arjun Kapoor being the director’s first choice for the film. However, Ranveer has now replaced his good friend to star as a lead in this biopic of sorts. Kabir, who is still giving Tubelight a few finishing touches, will soon begin working on the scripting of the film.
