Karan Johar opens up about the Pakistani artistes ban, and Fawad Khan
During the release of 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil', filmmaker Karan Johar found himself in a socio-political soup for casting Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in the film. Though the cast had completed shooting for the film even before the cross-border tensions shot up, the makers were still dragged into the Pak artistes ban controversy.

At the World Economic Forum, Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid and Karan Johar shared the stage. During the interaction, Sharmeen said that she hopes to see Fawad being directed by Karan on the big screen someday. To this, Karan replied, "I'm trying to process how to answer that... You know what I went through. It was a tough time for me. I have a great regard for talent and I have a great regard for Fawad Khan's talent which is why he's been in two of our films."

The filmmaker further went on to add, "The circumstances... we don't know where we're heading, and I think all great actors should find the best platforms and just like you, I hope Fawad Khan finds the best platform because he's a terrific actor. Having said that, I never want to go through what I went through again. Neither the situation, the circumstances, nor the apology. None of that is what made me feel comfortable. I felt weak, vulnerable, victimised, and as a filmmaker, I don't want to feel that. I just want to feel creatively liberated."

Well, it known that Karan was traumatised during the release of 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil', and even shared a video that reflected his thoughts on Fawad and the ban.
