Karan Johar: Ranbir is a big part of Dharma

Karan Johar's Dharma Productions' is trying their hand at trilogy with Ranbir Kapoor's 'Dragon' trilogy
With the audience welcoming new content and opening up to new ideas, the concept of the franchise is being re-introduced in Bollywood. With films like 'Naam Shabana', which is a prequel to 'Baby' and Rohit Shetty's 'Golmaal' series doing so well, various Bollywood production houses are now contemplating about creating franchises.

Karan Johar's Dharma Productions' is trying their hand at trilogy with Sushant Singh Rajput’s upcoming film, 'Drive' and Alia and Varun starrer Dulhania trilogy. And as per latest reports, Karan Johar has also planned Ranbir Kapoor’s next with Ayan Mukerji to be a trilogy.

Talking about their next starring Ranbir Kapoor, which is tentatively titled 'Dragon'. Karan said, “Ranbir is a big part of Dharma. We have had great innings with him so far and we are looking forward to the next with him, which Ayan is directing. This new movie is going to be a cinematic experience and we have spent a lot of time on scripting the trilogy. It’s one of the most ambitious Dharma films ever. We will start shooting in October-November and will announce the final title in September."

Helmed by Ayan Mukerji and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles, 'Dragon' is scheduled for a 2018 release.
