Ketan Mehta has filed the complaint in Economic Offences Wing claiming that Kangana Ranaut be booked for cheating and breach of trust
After having served Kangana Ranaut with a legal notice for hijacking his ambitious project based on the Queen of Jhansi, director Ketan Mehta has now decided to take the matter to Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW). The director has filed the complaint claiming that Kangana Ranaut be booked for cheating and breach of trust.

Reportedly Kangana and Ketan were in talks over a year for Ketan's ambitious biopic on Rani Lakshmibai titled 'Rani of Jhansi: The Warrior Queen'. However, the actress later announced that she was going to be a part of Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi alias Krish's biopic on Lakshmibai titled as 'Manikarnika – the Queen of Jhansi'.

Confirming that he had approached the EOW, Ketan Mehta said, "We shared various versions of the script and sketch materials with Kangana Ranaut. We were shocked when we came to know that she was making the film within someone else and that’s why we also sent her a legal notice. We have been working on this project for 10 years now and it’s a labour of love. They have hijacked our project and that is not acceptable."

In his complaint, Ketan Mehta further stated that he had suffered a loss of at least Rs 9 crore as Kangana had not only hijacked the project but also deserted it abruptly after having shot for it.

Kangana's lawyer, Rizwan Siddiquee, reiterated the actress's message that both the films are different and added, "My client knows she has not committed any moral or legal wrong, therefore such ridiculous and baseless claims or complaints will not deter her in any manner. The facts of the matter and the evidence will reveal the truth."

However, an EOW official said that a FIR against the actress will only be filed after an investigation into the claims. A senior EOW official said, "Ketan Mehta has submitted a written complaint, seeking a FIR into the matter. A probe is on and Kangana Ranaut will be summoned to record her version."
