Priyanka Chopra to be honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award

A new category - 'Internationally Acclaimed Actress Award', is being introduced for Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra's performance as the villain Victoria Leeds in the summer movie 'Baywatch' has been garnering her a lot of praise. Apart from the all the acclaim that the actress has been earning in West, back home PeeCee is all set to be awarded the coveted Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award. In fact, a new category - Internationally Acclaimed Actress Award, is being introduced for the actress.

Confirming the news, the chairman of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award Committee, Ashok Shekhar said, "Yes, we have decided to introduce a fresh category in the awards list — Internationally Acclaimed Actress Award. There are no two ways about the fact that Priyanka Chopra is the only actress who truly deserves this award. She has consented for the same."

Ashok Shekhar also added, "With her hard and sincere efforts, Priyanka has placed the Indian industry in the international forum so powerfully. It compelled the organisers to introduce this fresh category in the award."

Along with Priyanka Chopra, her mother Dr Madhu Chopra, who produced the Marathi box-office hit, 'Ventilator' will be receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in the Best Film category.
