As Rani Mukherji gears up for an action packed month-long shoot schedule for ‘Mardaani 2’ in Rajasthan, which has her chasing her on-screen nemesis, we can’t help thinking that she may just have more than one nemesis. While the first one is her on-screen, cruel and merciless villain, the second is the scorching, parching heat. For the shoot sequence, Rani shot in broad daylight and brazen sun, as the temperature soared upto 42 degrees!

A production source shared details about the shoot conditions that ironically made us break a sweat. The source said, “The temperature in Kota is over 40 degree now and within a few days, it will cross 43 degrees. It is an extremely difficult shooting schedule especially since we are shooting in the middle of the day under the beating summer sun of Rajasthan. All the scenes have Rani investigating and looking for this heinous criminal and we also shot a chase sequence in one of the hottest days in Kota,”

“It was a long chase sequence in this boiling heat and we wanted to wrap this shot in one take. Rani is known to nail most scenes in one take and she did the same on this occasion too but since it was a chase sequence, she insisted that we shoot it a couple of times so that we have variations of the shot. It was hot and we could see she was getting dehydrated but she nailed each take. The entire crew got really motivated seeing her level of commitment. The shooting team is not used to this heat and Rani’s commitment really got the entire team going,” the source adds.

Viewers will see Rani reprise her role of a fearless and commited Supreitendent Police, Shivani Shivaji Roy in ‘Mardaani 2.’ The film’s prequel which showed Rani;ç character pin down the kingpin of a child-trafficking racket was well-received by the audience and critics alike. Naturally, the sequel has everyone’s anticipation at peak. Produced by Aditya Chopra, this will be Rani’s next release after the global blockbuster ‘Hichki.’ ‘Mardaani 2’ marks the directorial debut of Gopi Puthran, the writer of the first Mardaani film.
