Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar's last collaboration at the Box Office was when Karan directed SRK and Kajol starrer 'My Name Is Khan', post which the actor was seen in a cameo appearance in 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil'. While the audience only got to see a glimpse of the actor in 'ADHM', the fans eagerly wait to see SRK in a full fledged Karan Johar directorial.

While there were reports that Karan has approached SRK for a film also starring Ranbir Kapoor, the news surely got all the fans excited! With no confirmation on the same, a leading daily asked Shah Rukh about the rumours. To this, the actor said, "Karan last approached me for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which I did. Before that, he had come to me with another script, which he dropped. He told me he doesn’t want to make it."

The actor continued, "He was not directing it, someone else was making it under his banner. He just came to me and told me, ‘Bhai, I have an idea. Would you like to hear it?’ I said yes. But then, after three days, he called me to say that it is too expensive and he doesn’t want to do it. He said he’ll think of something else." Shah Rukh clarified that the filmmaker has not approached him for any film, with or without Ranbir. "No, he has not approached me for a film, with Ranbir or without him," added the actor.

When questioned Karan about the project, the filmmaker clarified, "Yes, there was a talk of a film. It was a while ago. It was a script which I later felt was going all over the place so we redesigned the film. Whether it is Adi and Shah Rukh or me — we have had a really solid combination run. He is my go-to person for a film when I think of an idea."

"He is great to jam with. His instinct on cinema, and what he thinks I am capable of, is stronger than what I am really capable of. He actually has a better instinct on what I can do more than I have. He knows my abilities as a filmmaker much more than I perhaps recognise myself. So he and I always talk in general about so many films," concluded the filmmaker.
