Bollywood actors Shilpa Shetty and Salman Khan have reportedly been summoned by the deputy SP of Rajasthan’s Churu district, Hukum Singh, for allegedly using the word ‘bhangi’ and hurting the sentiments of Valmiki community. Film analyst Komal Nahta has also been summoned in this regard. Apparently, last month a complaint had also been registered against the actors in connection with the matter, in Mumbai.

The Rojgar Aghari Republican Party of India had filed a police complaint in Mumbai against the two stars for using the word ‘bhangi’ on a public platform and hurting the sentiments of the Scheduled Caste community. However, Shilpa had taken to her Twitter handle to issue an apology which stated, “Some of my words from an interview in the past have been misinterpreted. It was never said with the intent of hurting anyone’s feelings… I apologize if they have. I’m proud to belong to a country that boasts of diverse castes and creeds and I respect each one of them.”

While Salman had used the word during the promotions of 'Tiger Zinda Hai' to describe his dancing skills, Shilpa had used it to describe how she looked at home. Stay tuned for more updates.
