Shooting commences for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmavati'

Surrounded amidst many controversies, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmavati' is finally on floors. Starring Deepika, Ranveer and Shahid in leading roles. Padmavati was constantly in the eye of controversy, be it due to the reports of rivalry between the lead actors, or the alleged fall-out between the director and the actor, or the controversies regarding the historical inaccuracies!

However, as per the latest image shared on social media, Padmavati has officially started rolling today!
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, 'Padmavati' is the story of Alauddin Khilji, the second ruler of the Khilji dynasty, and his obsessive love for the queen of Mewar, Padmavati, renowned for her beauty, intellect and courage. On seeing her, Alauddin was so dazzled by Padmavati's beauty that he resolved to induct her into his harem, ordering his army to invade the kingdom. Thoroughly outnumbered, Ratan Singh declared that the Rajputs would fight until the last man to protect their honour. Hearing of this development, Padmavati decided to commit Jauhar. As their men-folk marched towards a lost war, a huge pyre was lit and following their queen, the women of Mewar jumped into the flames.
