Sidharth Malhotra replaced by Ayushmann Khurrana in upcoming comedy?

It looks like the year 2017 is not a lucky one for actor Sidharth Malhotra. His films 'Baar Baar Dekho' and 'A Gentleman', tanked at the box office. His latest film opposite Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna, 'Ittefaq', also received a lukewarm response at the box office. And now, according to reports, a renowned production house has replaced Sidharth Malhotra as the main lead of a quirky comedy. The movie will now star Ayushmann Khurrana as the lead.

A source revealed, “Sidharth Malhotra’s disastrous run at the box office with 'Baar Baar Dekho' and 'A Gentleman' had put the makers of the film in doubt of his capability to attract audiences. The underwhelming opening and weekend run of 'Ittefaq' was the final nail in the coffin and the team decided to replace Sidharth with Ayushmann Khurrana.” The source further added, “Over time Ayushmann has acquired an audience base in the genre of comedy and is currently considered a more bankable star than Sidharth by film producers.”

Apparently, the makers of the film had already narrated the script to Sidharth but still decided to sign Ayushmann for the film. Stay tuned for more updates.
