Taapsee Pannu has her kitty full of upcoming projects. She made her Bollywood debut in ‘Chashme Baddoor’. She is now one amongst the A-list stars in Bollywood. She also bought a beautiful three-BHK in Andheri. “It was a satisfying year, both personally and professionally. I’ve gone from a question mark to definitive answers on where I’m heading; 2017 has given me a sense of direction.”

Taapsee has been shooting for Anubhav Sinha’s thriller, ‘Mulk’, alongside Rishi Kapoor and Shaad Ali’s Sandeep Singh biopic, ‘Soorma’. Her 2018 lineup also includes Aanand L Rai’s ‘Manmarziyan’, which marks Anurag Kashyap’s foray into love stories as a filmmaker. “I’ve not seen all of Anurag’s work but I really enjoyed ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ (a two-part 2012 film by the director) even though I’m not a fan of films that drain me with their look and feel; I can’t watch dark cinema.”

Recently when Taapsee went to her home-town she had a reunion with her English teacher, “She is now associated with another school and when I was in the Capital recently they were organising an event. Though it was a Sunday, the students put up a show for me with performances on my songs.”

Taapsee talks about her film ‘Mulk’, “I didn’t realise when the film went on the floors and wrapped up. It was a swift, 27-day schedule, a record of sorts, if you consider that it features an ensemble cast. Even the outdoor shoots were smooth,” she beams, showering praise on her co-star too. “I worked with Rishiji in Chashme Baddoor too, but we had shot for only two days together then. I play his daughter-in-law in Mulk. Despite his seniority, he’s really earnest in his prep. It took him two hours every day to just get into his character’s look. But he was still brimming with ideas to perfect it further.”

Taapsee has been training for hockey for her next, “I never thought I would be able to play it, even though my dad used to be a hockey player and is still cued into it. I’m not very confident playing contact sports where you run the risk of accidentally pushing or hitting a fellow player. But I must add that despite this being my first sports film, I have picked up the game well from Sandeep Singh. It’s an unusual one and not in-your-face. It shows two people falling in love and how they do little things for each other. It’s a subtle portrayal of love, which is Shaad’s forte.”

Taapsee talks about her co-star Diljit, “I’ve not seen Diljit’s Punjabi films but I’ve seen the Hindi ones, including ‘Udta Punjab’. He’s a shy guy but once the camera is on, he is on fire.”

She signed off by saying, “In the summer, I plan to move into my new house.”
