Actor Varun Sharma whose last film ‘Fukrey Returns’ was a hit, is prepping up for his next ‘Fry Day’ where he will be acting alongside Govinda. The movie will be released on May 11. As per reports, the film is set to clash with ‘Raazi’ starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.

Varun said, “From an actor’s point of view, it’s all about hoping and every department [in filmmaking] has its contribution. The writer hopes to come up with an amazing script that connects with people. The producer thrives to make a great project, market it well, and make it reach people. The actor’s job is to play that character with a lot of honesty so that people believe in it on screen. And then, the rest is all up to the people and their tastes.”

The actor further added, “It’s not a cricket match that one team has to win. I feel every film should work and people should watch it because it’s only good for the industry as a whole that more and more films get watched and more revenue comes in.”

Varun expressed that a film is for the audience, “We all want good collections and maximum people to come to the theatres. It’ll be a lie if we say that’s not the case. We don’t make films for our own personal satisfaction. We make films so that people come in and enjoy something that we have worked so hard on, for a year or a few months. At the end of the day, it is for the audience, so we really hope for great footfall, so that word of mouth spreads.”

He concluded by saying, “I feel with two films clashing, the audience also has a choice. In this case, ours is a comedy and ‘Raazi’ is an intense film based on a true story. So, these are two different genres altogether and I don’t see them affecting each other’s business.”

Varun Sharma is currently shooting for ‘Arjun Patiala’ which also stars Kriti Sanon and Diljit Dosanjh.
