Will Alia Bhatt be filling Sridevi's shoes in the remake of 'Chaalbaaz'?

There's no doubt that Alia Bhatt is one stellar performer on the big screen. The actress has owned all her roles and has already worked in so many genres of movies. And so it comes as no surprise that she would be the one actress thought of by makers who would want to make a remake of Sridevi's epic, 'Chaalbaaz'.

While we had heard buzz that David Dhawan was working on a remake of the yesteryear hit 'Chaalbaaz', the project seems to now be gaining prominence. Recent reports suggest that the filmmaker is looking to cast Alia Bhatt to fill the shoes of Sridevi in the film and play the dual character role she had. David recently gave his blockbuster hit 'Judwaa 2' after 'Judwaa' and the filmmaker seems rather keen on remakes. Also, sources suggest that he thinks Alia will be able to do justice to Sridevi's original performance in the film.

Speaking to the media recently, Alia said, “When I had gone to him (David Dhawan), asking to be cast in the next instalment of 'Judwaa', David sir told me ‘I have a better role for you in comparison to 'Judwaa 3’. The next time I told him about my wish again, he said ‘Not in 'Judwaa 3', you have to work with me in the 'Chaalbaaz' remake." Interestingly, on the topic of 'Chaalbaaz' being remade, Sridevi said, “And if it’s remade, the one actress who could fit in that double role of mine is Alia."
