A lot of women with oily skin tend to have the misconception that they don't really need to opt for moisturiser since their skin is already super oily. Yes, your skin might be oily and greasy but that doesn't mean it does not require moisturising. In fact, not doing so can lead to excessive oil production by your skin since it'll think that it isn't hydrated enough. So, what exactly should you do? For that, you need to understand what it is that a moisturiser can do for you.

Oily skin equals an unwanted shine on your face plus clearly visible whiteheads, blackheads, large pores, breakouts and more. When your skin feels like it's getting dehydrated, it tends to start producing even more oil to compensate and this isn't really ideal for people who already have oily skin. In fact, this is exactly what happens when you don't apply moisturiser to your skin. Moisturisers can help hydrate your skin and can even form a protective barrier between the environment and your skin.

But can't washing your face be enough, you ask? Well, when you wash your face to get rid of the oil, it can make your skin feel the need to replenish the natural lost oils and thus it might end up producing excess sebum instead. So no, simply washing your face is not going to be enough. You also need to be careful about the type of moisturiser you're using.

Make sure that you opt for something water-based instead of oil-based since it can help ensure not to block your pores. In short, your moisturiser needs to be non-comedogenic aka non-pore blocking. Some ingredients you should opt for are Glycerin, Jojoba oil, Avocado extracts, Tea tree oil, Hyaluronic acid, Aloe vera extract and Squalene. Opt for a good moisturiser and you'll notice just how much of a difference it will make to your skin.
