Buckwheat or kuttu is already a famous food product in India. It is used majorly during festivals and to mark special occasions. However, now cafes and restaurants have also started incorporating it in their food items owing to its various health benefits. Buckwheat is an Asian plant of the dock family, which produces starchy seeds. And it can be cooked like most other cereals.

Apart from being rich in amino acids, it also contains minerals like phosphorous and magnesium. It contains flavonoids that are known to strengthen capillaries and improve blood flow, so consuming buckwheat can do wonders for your heart too. But the one prominent benefit of consuming buckwheat is that it is able to regulate blood-sugar levels.

Since it is rich in both insoluble and soluble fibres, it works extremely well in maintaining blood sugar levels. And since fibres take a long time to digest, your gut gets strengthened by the added amount of time it gets to process the food. It also contains slow-release carbohydrates and is abundant in magnesium and manganese which are necessary for carbohydrate metabolism.

Now, if you want to cook kuttu, you could either cook it like you cook cereals or you could turn it into powder form and makes rotis and puris out of it. And if you'd rather have something sweet, you could always turn it into pancakes. Start including kuttu in your diet, we say. Stay tuned for more updates.
