Common manicure mistakes you're making unknowingly

The pandemic might have thrown a wrench into all our dreams and hopes but if there's one thing we women haven't shied away from taking care of ourselves, it has to be our beauty and skincare. We've all been doing everything we can to ensure that not being able to go to the salon doesn't affect our skincare regime. And this also includes those monthly nail care appointments.

But, if you've noticed that your nails don't look as good as they did when you got them done at the salon, it's probably because you're making some silly manicure mistakes. So, if you want to ensure that like the rest of your skincare and beauty regime, your nail game is on point as well, here are some manicure mistakes you must absolutely avoid making.

Not applying a base coat - This one is a big no-no ladies. A base coat is important because it helps keep your manicure intact for at least a week and because it protects your nails from any harmful chemicals present in the nail paint. So, make sure to always apply a base coat before you apply nail paint to your nails.

You don't apply nail paint underneath your nail edges - Again, this is a mistake that will end up chipping your nail paint much sooner than intended. Whenever you apply some nail paint, ensure that you give it a finishing touch by applying some underneath your nail edges as well. Not only does this prevent chipping but it'll also give your nails a cleaner look.

You're removing your cuticles - Unless you're an expert at all things beauty and nail care, we suggest you do not opt for something this drastic. Removing cuticles should only be done by a professional. If you try this at home it can very easily lead to a nail infection and in really bad cases you might even end up losing your nail! If you must reduce the appearance of those cuticles, use a wooden tool to gently push them back and that should do the trick.

Well, now that you know what mistakes you might be making, keep these in mind the next time you decide to give yourself a manicure. Stay tuned for more updates.
