Losing weight is certainly no easy task. Whether it's a diet that you opt for or a certain exercise routine or both, shedding all those excess kilos can become quite difficult if you don't keep certain factors in mind. It's always important for you to track your food when you're on a diet which means you need to track what it is that you're consuming. But did you know, that the timing of your consumption also matters? Yes, that means that not only do you need to track what you eat but you also need to track when you eat it.

A new study has found that when you consume more calories at breakfast and fewer calories at dinner, you're more likely to lose weight. The reason for this occurrence is that your body has a natural circadian rhythm which promotes fat loss or fat burn during the morning hours and this rhythm naturally slows down during the evening. Hence, it makes more sense to eat more during breakfast than at dinner.

To get a better understanding of how this circadian clock works, the researchers conducted a study on middle-aged and older consumers to see how their metabolism changed over two 56-hour sessions. While the participants were allowed to eat lunch and dinner at the same time during both the sessions, the timings of their third meals were swapped.

So, while in one session their third meal was given to them at the beginning of the day at 8 am in the morning, in the other session the third meal was administered at the end of the day at 10 pm. The difference was quite clear. It was found that when participants consumed more food during waking hours, it helped burn more calories as opposed to when they consumed more food during the night.

The researchers concluded that it was important for consumers to know what time to consume their meals as this would give them a better idea of when they could lose weight effectively. It could also help them prep their meals accordingly. So, if you're planning on losing some weight, we suggest you follow this tip. Stay tuned for more updates.
