According to reports, being married can have quite the influence on your health and quite literally. A new study has now shown that married patients with melanoma tend to be diagnosed in earlier, more treatable stages, than patients who are unmarried, widowed or divorced. Melanoma is often mistaken for a mole and can be a blend of black, brown, tan or even bluish pigment. It is often linked to too much exposure to the sun and tanning beds. It is also more common in people with fairer skin and those with lots of moles.

The recent research shows that spouses can help in the early detection of melanoma. The researchers said that they could spot the suspicious looking mole on their partner and could also persuade their partners to get it checked out. According to the research, amongst those patients who were married, about 47% had the earliest-stage tumours compared with 43% of never-married patients, 39% of divorced patients and 32% of widowed patients. Stay tuned for more updates.
