Owing to this lockdown, there is a limited availability of meat products. This has left people with an only option to find healthier alternatives that can give them the much-needed protein boost. Among these healthy foods, one is soya chunks that have become quite a staple in many households during this lockdown.

But if you're wondering about its health benefits and if you can consider eating it, here's what you need to know:

It is true that a lot of people have been enjoying consuming soya chunks due to its chewy and meaty texture. In fact, there are many vegetarians who consider it to be their all-time favourite. If you're lacking protein in your diet, you can consider eating soya chunks. It is believed to be really rich in essential amino acids. Soya can also bring down unhealthy levels of cholesterol. Besides this, it's also rich in - fiber, plant-derived compounds, iron, calcium and magnesium and some amounts of omega-3 fatty acids.

The only downside of these are that they're processed from edamame beans and you aren't really consuming the beans which actually are healthier. Ideally we should restrict the consumption of eating soya chunks to not more than twice a week.
