Here are some myths about washing clothes that you should know

Adulting begins by doing laundry on the weekends. While we all crib and cry on sight of the pile of clothes waiting for us to clean them, how many times have you accidentally ruined your favourite jacket? Or how about that one time when you thought that random hack from the internet was going to actually help you remove haldi stains? In a world full of free advices, it is quite easy to fall for everything that promises us to deliver freshly washed clothes without the damage. For effective cleaning, it is important to realise what works best for your fabrics. To ease out all the problem that you might have been facing lately while trying to master the art of laundry, we have debunked some common myths about washing clothes for your knowledge. Check out these:

Myth- Should you freeze your jeans to clean them? The answer is no. It doesn’t work! Jeans should be hand washed in cold water after every four to five wears, using a delicate detergent. However, turning jeans inside out can prevent fading.

Myth- Can you delicate wash your shoes in the washing machine? The answer is no! The heat from the machine can warp the shoes and damage the glue that holds the parts. Tumble dryers can also shrink shoes depending on its material that is used.

Myth-Does putting tennis balls in the tumble dryer actually make your towels fluffier? This is true! If you like your towel nice and fluffy, pop a couple of tennis balls with clothing that can use good fluffing when tumble drying. The tennis balls allow better air flow in the machine. Try it!

Myth- Does using more detergent mean cleaner clothes? The answer would be no. The amount of detergent you put should depend on the weight of your clothing. Using too much detergent can leave residues, stains, odour left behind on your clothes.
