India's Finance Minister Arun Jaitley delivered his fifth and last full Budget amidst subdued economic growth, challenging fiscal situation and farm distress. The day began with a lot of buzz around whether this would be a populist budget and whether any significant announcements would be made. Although they announced the biggest healthcare venture in the world, there still seems bad news for the general public. As per what was being said, there seems to be no difference in the income tax rates to be paid by the population.

There was some relief when it came to medical bills as the exemption on annual health insurance premiums has been increased from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000. No sooner had the Minister started talking about the budget, the Twitteratis started commenting on how the common man's basic problems would be overlooked.
