Here's how you can eat rice and still lose weight

All you people on a diet, rejoice! Here's a way in which you can eat rice and still lose weight. Scientists have now come up with a handy hack that may just help slash the calories in a portion of rice by half. Normally, a regular cup of rice can contain up to 240 calories. But if you add a tablespoon of coconut oil in the water you're boiling the rice in and then refrigerate the drained rice for 12 hours, you may end up with rice that has half the calories.



Scientists found that this technique helped create 10 times more resistant starch, compared to normal rice. When you make rice more starch resistant, fewer calories from it gets absorbed in the body. Once your body converts carbs into glucose, it gets converted to glycogen which gets absorbed in the liver and muscles to be used as immediate energy. However, “the issue is that the excess glucose that doesn’t get converted to glycogen ends up turning into fat, which can lead to excessive weight or obesity”.
