Every one of us faces this issue often. While, trimming your hair every now and then is necessary, doing it more often than required can be quite a task. We are aware that split-ends aren’t detrimental to your hair, they also leave the hair unmanageable, dry and dead-looking which isn’t what you’d really want. Split-ends essentially occur when the hair shaft splits. This usually tends to happen when the hair is dry and brittle and ends up fraying at the ends. One of the biggest contributors in doing so is heat this can be from blow-drying, straightening, or curling. Even if you roughly dry your hair with a blowdry, it can cause the cuticle to split.

How to deal with the split ends
Combing
Run a wide-tooth comb through your wet hair to remove any tangles – make sure you start at the bottom and then make your way to the top. This prevents the tangles from moving down your hair. Do not add pressure when doing so, as your hair can break, so divide it into section and gently comb it.

Styling
Deep conditioning your hair from root to tip helps lock in moisture, leaving the cuticle smooth and soft. Before styling your hair, make sure you apply an intense moisturising leave-in cream to reduce any frizz, and then continue to blowdry. Do not touch the device to your hair, but simply keep it around 20-30cm away from the hair to avoid damage.

First of all, do not pick at your split ends do resist the temptation. While, cutting off the split-ends is the most feasible option, there are other ways through which you can salvage your hair. You can restore the keratin, through alternative keratin treatments that will provide a fix. If you’re too afraid to chop it off, try and visit your salon for a mini-trim often, so that you don’t have a massive chunk of hair chopped off in one go.
