You probably already know how important sunscreen is in our lives. It’s a must! Daily sunscreen use is the secret to healthy skin. Although you might be slathering dollops of SPF to protect your skin when outside, what about when you’re indoors? You might think just because you’re not stepping out under the sun, you don’t need sun protection, but you do! Most windows don’t block all the harmful UV radiation from the sun.

The UV and UVA rays from the sun can penetrate through clouds and windows can harm your skin, without even tanning your skin. You might think it’s cloudy and hence you don’t need a sunscreen, but you’re wrong! Even during the time, you might be in your car surrounded by the natural light, you need the protection.

A study shows that people had more fine lines, wrinkles, dull complexion and skin sagging on the side of their face that was exposed to natural night through a window. Similarly, another study confirmed the harmful effect of sun rays on people who drive often. It concluded skin cancers were more prevalent to the side of the body and face that was exposed to natural light through the driver’s side window.

Even simple indoor activities such as cooking, longer screen timings, and other household chores can affect the way your skin is holding up. The ignorance of not wearing sunscreen when you’re home can cause skin issues like discolouration, fine line, skin aging, photodamage, retina cancer, and even skin cancer at some point.

To be on the safe side, we recommend you apply sunscreen daily, whether you’re at home or not.
