If you wish to build your respiratory health, you can make this healthy soup at home

Our lungs play a very crucial role in enabling our body to function and also to boost its health, we should incorporate some kind of food which will keep them active and working. An expert in Asian cuisine shares a delicious soup recipe which includes ingredients from the kitchen that can help you in improving your respiratory system.

Broccoli and almond soup

You need - blanched almonds, butter, finely chopped onions, finely minced garlic, vegetable stock, peeled broccoli stems, salt and ground white pepper.

Instructions:

- Toast the almonds in a small fry pan until they turn light brown. Remove them from the pan and reserve.
- In a soup pot, add some butter and once it gets hot, add the chopped onion and saute it for a few minutes. Then, add garlic and continue to stir for a few more minutes. Add broccoli and cook it for another 5 minutes.
- You can now add the vegetable stock and bring the soup to boil. Once it starts boiling, you can simmer it for 12 minutes until the broccoli becomes tender.
- Add the reserved almonds to the soup and a few garnished on top. Puree the soup with a hand blender.
- You can adjust the taste of salt and pepper according to your taste.

Since broccoli is rich in vitamins K and C which is a good source of folate, it also provides fibre and potassium to your body. When it comes to this vegetable, it's an amazing food with many health benefits. It's low in calories, and it's got essential vitamins and minerals apart from fibre.

Broccoli belongs to the cruciferous family. Just a cup of cooked broccoli can give you as much vitamin C as an orange and is also a very good source of beta-carotene. Broccoli also contains iron, magnesium, zinc and vitamins B1, B2, B3 and B6.
