Celebrity nutritionist, Rujuta Diwekar who is often known as Kareena Kapoor Khan’s nutritionist also has many other impressive names in her portfolio. Just in Bollywood, Rujuta also guides Varun Dhawan and the older Kapoor sister, Karisma Kapoor with their food choices. The Mumbai based nutritionist is a huge supporter of all things local, and against the westernization of our food habits. Diwekar is often recognized for her critical approach to people to follow fat diets. Her main advice always remains to consume healthy, fresh and local fruits and vegetables. In fact, she has reminded the Indian masses of Indian superfruits that we may have forgotten. This week, the celebrity nutritionist, introduced to her followers another desi gem that was almost forgotten – coconut flower.

Coconut is an incredibly nutritious food item that is readily available in the Indian land. You can consume it raw, ripe, its oil, water – all of which are extremely beneficial to one’s health. Coconut has a high rate of healthy fats. Which gives it its hero properties. The internet savvy nutritionist recently took to Instagram to talk about this hidden gem. Here’s what she said about the fruit along with its picture. "Splitting this open so that you can see what this is all about. Not a lotus or a rose but a flower nevertheless, say hello to the coconut fower. Rich in micronutrients and taste, hyper-local to the coastal parts of India, this little flower is good for your blood sugars, brain, and bones."

She did not mince words yet again as she spoke about people who blindly followed dad diet, She said, "I hope you can take inspiration from the owl who can see with its eyes wide shut and see through all the bombardment of diet fads that get thrown at you. And in the meanwhile, on your next trip to Goa give that beer and gambling a break and eat the phool, don't be a fool." Coconut, coconut water and tender coconut meat are all very popular during the long summer months, due to their ability to keep the body hydrated and replenish the body's electrolyte stores. Coconut flower, however, is not that popular a food yet and may only be found very rarely. The texture of the coconut flower is very different from the tender coconut meat and it can be easily sliced into pieces with the help of a kitchen knife.
