Our on-the-go lifestyle in this day an age can make it difficult to get the proper nutrition we require to function at our best. That is why combining all the nutrition we need into one delicious smoothie can help kick start our day the right way and make life a little easier.

According to the American Cancer Society, we need to be consuming about 2 1/2 cups of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis in order to give our health a boost and protect against deadly diseases like cancer. You can increase your fruit and veggie intake by tossing it all into a blender and turning it into a smoothie if you are not providing your body with the right nutrition.

You can experiment and combine a variety of fruits and vegetables together. Whatever you choose make sure to include spinach as it is high in fibre and low in sugar.

Here are a few more reasons to add spinach to your smoothie:
- A nutritionally-dense vegetable
- Low in calories
- Rich source of fibre, folate, calcium, and vitamins A, C, and K
- High in antioxidants like lutein and zeaxanthin
- May help protect against oxidative damage
- Improves eye health

Making a smoothie with spinach, vegetables and fruits will provide you with a drink that is packed with iron, fibre, healthy fats, and vitamin A at approximately 230 calories.

Here's a green smoothie recipe you can try:
- A cup of spinach (fresh)
- A glass of coconut water
- Half a cup of sliced pineapples
- Half a banana
-Avocado

The avocado will provide you with a dose of healthy fats. The bananas and pineapple will add a bit of sweetness to your beverage. Meanwhile, the coconut water will help to keep you hydrated. Blend all the ingredients well in a blender and consume it daily in the mornings. You'll start to notice a huge change in a months time.

While spinach has loads of benefits, it is important to note that it may be problematic for diabetics and patients with kidney stones. Therefore, it is important to consult with your doctor before making any changes to your diet.
