Navratri 2018: Diet tips to help you lose weight this festive season

Navratri is finally here and while people tend to fast on these nine days, most of them do not do it the right way. Fasting has been linked to various health benefits like weight-loss, reduced risk of diseases and conditions as well as a body detox. People avoid consuming grains, pulses, non-vegetarian food and alcohol during these nine days. However, they also need to remember to create a healthy diet plan and eat well-balanced meals so that these days can help them jump-start their diet.

Here are a few eating tips one should keep in mind during their fast for Navratri:

Consume more fresh fruits and vegetables- Fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins and nutrients. Why not opt for something like a delicious fruit chaat? It will not only be easy to prepare but it will taste amazing too.

Avoid processed foods- Try and stay away from foods that are loaded with an excess of sodium, like fried puris, pakodas and potato chips. Also, avoid eating things from outside as your body will be on a detox.

Stay hydrated- this is the most important thing. Wherever you are and whatever you're doing, remember to drink lots of water. Since you won't be eating much, chances are you'll get dehydrated even faster and this will cause you to lose energy rapidly.
